There is no greater purpose than saving something.
“I see you out there in the legendary haunts also playing a role, struggling to save those who are in danger.
You are a false Prometheus who will nevertheless suffer true ordeals imposed by dark forces: hunger, illness, death. Since you are proud, I believe that you will rejoice that these dark forces are so many and so overpowering, because in this way your purpose becomes more heroic and your soul’s campaign acquires more tragic grandeur, seeing that it is almost without any hope at all of succeeding.
Surely you must consider such a life a happy one.
I remember that I said to you: “What is the meaning of Greece and duty? The truth is here!” And you replied: ‘Greece and duty mean nothing, yet let us willfully die for that nothing.’”
Somerset Maugham talked about SAVING ANOTHER in the Razor’s Edge.
And Kazantzakis says the above (edited) in Zorba the Greek.
Let’s save that life or textile or at least keep trying… ❤️❤️❤️
Featuring a Palampore hand painted Kalamkari found in Sri Lanka. The browns mineral dyes that are usually made with iron filings, have eaten into the cloth leaving empty spaces where the brown motifs were. As there are many brown borders all over the textile, it is hard to keep it together.
