Indonesian Glass Paintings – Museum of Ethnology collection

Presenting here a new form of art that I had not been exposed earlier: Indonesian Glass Paintings.

The subjects are always Indonesian folk stories and legends or a narrative of historical events. It would take a few weeks to assimilate the entire context of all the exhibits so .. I just remained at the top layer of the palimpsest – the visuals. The very ethnic character of the images attracted me as much as the vivid colors.

This first exposure has opened my eyes and I hope more will come along …

Enjoy the visual feast and do take note of the varied batik textiles in the paintings!

All paintings are from the Museum of Ethnology, Hanoi.

All photos are by me 🙂
