5146 Rare Tribal Textile of Gadaba Tribe from Odisha

One more Stunning little collectible textile !!!

From the Gadaba tribe of Orissa.

This one was acquired from a tribal fair 3 years ago straight off the loom.

Only a dozen or so pieces were on sale from the 20 odd tribes that were present at the large Adivasi gathering that attracted a few thousand visitors.

Such pieces are made for self consumption and rarely ever sold. These may be the only piece that might ever be offered on the net.

With India’s economy on the upswing and opportunities soaring, these tribes are coming into the fold of development and chances are that their traditional ways of life will be left behind for an economically brighter future.

Such pieces may easily be among the last …
