941 Vintage Rabari Embroidery Chaakla Panels from Kutch Gujarat

Superbly Embroidered Chaaklas, Chaakdas or square decorative patches used as wall art in traditional Rabari homes

Cotton base

Superbly executed extremely dense embroidery that at first-glance could be mistaken for applique or rope-work

Such fine work is no longer made.

Artworks of this quality were usually given as dowry.

Kutch, India

Estimated to be from the 1970s

Each is about 18 inches x 18 inches in size

Note that the tassels were attached only partially on one of the Chaaklas.
