914 Old Thirma Phulkari Embroidered Cultural Textile With Roses

Beautiful antique Thirma Bagh Phulkari with Roses

White base Phulkaris are uncommon and have been used by Hindu families of Punjab as the bridal shawl. Some literature suggests that white base shawls with red silk floss were worn by the older senior women in the family.

This piece has a hand spun hand woven cotton base.

Red & Green Silk Floss Embroidery

Red Silk Embroidered Selvedge-Embroidery to ensure that the ends do not fray.

Rarely available commercially.

Please note that there are stains on the textile as can be seen on the photos.

Age unknown but estimated to be 50-60 years old
