228-B Fragment of Cape of the Miao People Weining, Ethnic Minority China

Rare costume of the flower Miao people of the Guizhou Province.

Cotton, Wool & Hemp.

Handstitched and embroidered.

Has one large spot on the front that needs repairs with patchwork. Has one area on the back that needs stitching to secure it. Details in the last 3 photographs.

The large expanse of intact cloth could be up-cycled into cushion covers / table runners etc.

Stains and missing threads in small patches in other places

Am calling this a fragment until it can be repaired and secured.  Price reflects the condition.

LITERATURE REFERENCE: Similar piece seen in ‘Miao Textiles from China’ by Gina Corrigan, pages 22-23.
