The things I want to do are many:
Add more blog notes and share the beauty I see in man-made things – just to point out one facet or another
Add a line of prints – an affordable reproduction of the fantastic motifs in all the antique art that passes through wovensouls
For larger textiles that cannot be saved, cut & frame the fragments and save them for posterity.
Yesterday I looked at the print on my husband’s shirt – it shows a color modified version of the hand-painted Indian long textile from the Tapi collection that was found in Toraja – depicting a particular tree. The original has blues and pinks. The shirt print has been modified blues and browns. Branded too. Why not, I thought. Someone is bound to come up with these adaptation ideas. So going one more step for wovensouls – get yardage printed with the prints of the beautiful textiles and then make affordable printed shawls / cushion covers etc.
So many ideas …

And the original from the Tapi collection:

And a fragment from wovensouls:

And so the list of “things that I want to do”, gets longer with every idea. And then the things that I can give time to, seems to grow smaller and smaller with new demands on time.
Maybe in another lifetime!
Perhaps it is a good thing to have more plans than time… rather than the other way round.

Culture and art are so interesting!
Hi Jaina,
I’ve just discovered your blog and online gallery and find myself mesmerized by the collection you’ve amassed and the level of detail you are able to describe each piece with. You are a new source of inspiration as I continue my own journey of discovering textiles from around the world and the stories they hold about the people who created them. Thank you!
