Short Non-Academic Online Talks on Art & Culture

With the availability of new technology, I have hosted a few online talks on ZOOM.

The talks are all non-academic and explore the stories that surround the art.

They are excerpts from the talks I give on the luxury-cruise liners as a guest speaker and the aim is to deliver ‘enjoyment of the art category’ rather than ‘knowledge’. [If I am successful in the first, there’s enough on the internet for the audience to pursue their own individual journeys of deeper study.]

Here are links to the recordings of past talks (on youtube):

TAMPAN TEXTILES – SHIPCLOTHS OF SUMATRA (Sep 25th)

NARRATIVE TEXTILE ART OF RAJASTHAN (Oct 2nd)

More are being planned for the future

  1. Mysteries of Ancient Astrological Calendar Art
  2. Migration of Memes – Clues through Textile Arts
  3. The Blue Veil – Turquoise Peraks of Ladakh
  4. Live Interview with a Banjara Tribe Member – Why they are giving up their textile art
  5. “Show & Tell” with Audience Participation

and more

We’ve done 3 talks and 1 Webinar until now (First one did not get recorded unfortunately because of poor tech skills) with 13, 28, 26 and 74 guests respectively from all over the world.

The lively Q&A sessions are fun and the questions are thought provoking – and lead us all to go back to study some more.

So do join in. Click to find out more and register:
