Notes on Culture & Antique Art, Ethnic Decor & Vintage Fashion | Wovensouls Art Gallery
Some days the lockdown in Goa gets to me… and all I can see are birds.
Every morning, the birds sing in the jungle outside my window – uninvited – and wake me up at 4 am. Perhaps this unearthly waking-up time is affecting my mental balance….and making me oversensitive to the creatures that are responsible for this crime.
And so I see them everywhere. Peacocks in this textile and parrots in that!
The birder-husband has no sympathy for my ranting, naturally.
But the bird-stress is getting to me ……
They say stress reduces when you share it with others.
So here I am sharing my stress with the internet.
Enjoy the Bird gallery linked here in the art gallery or just scroll down and see some of pieces right here.
1459 Peacock Rug Azeri Azerbaijan Baku – Verneh style
1349 Antique Banarasi Sari
654 Peacock Bird SHawl Odhana Rajasthan
1152 Manila Manton
[the motifs in the exhibits above & below may well be sleep-deprivation-induced hallucinations and not actual bird motifs. Could the mutated lad below (with 5 legs) be a ram?]
1297 Antique Batik Tiga Negeri
1455 Antique Sainchi Bagh Phulkari
727 Vintage Gujarat Embroidery Panel
Ancient Majapahit Bird Rings
And finally the masterpiece – the amazing peacock in silver surmised to be an ornament for a royal horse.
282 – Silver Peacock Ornament
There are many more birds hiding in my shelves… and I’ve attempted to put them all together.
If you too would like to spend time birding from your armchair do follow me to the bird gallery on WOVENSOULS.com
The bird gallery is perhaps the only positive outcome of the unsolicited 4 am alarm!
