Daily Art Fix – Ayuthaya Paintings

One more style of painting – one more delectable recipe that makes the senses dance int his ongoing visual feast – Ayutthaya paintings from Thailand.

The subject matter relates to either the life of Buddha or the popular legend of Prince Vessantara.

Temple walls were decorated with such individual paintings to provide religious education about the various incidents in the life of Buddha to inspire visitors to live good lives.

Over a hundred years later, these paintings still lights a lamp of delight in the souls of art lovers!

Thank you for these images. I had the mixed pleasure and pain of visiting some of the ruined city of Ayutthaya last year. I really want to spend a lot more time there exploring and drawing.
