The Carnival @ Goa, Panaji.
Very inclusive street party with floats put up by villages and individuals – the parade had participants from all profile groups, the young & the old, the fat and the fit, the educated posh and the minimally educated simple people – farmers, fishermen – grandmas, students, brahma kumaris …all content all happy.
So many social awareness themed floats ….. about the health of oceans and trees …
Quite a diverse medley of participants in the parade!
A float creating awareness about the tragedy tree-cutting.
A float created using plastic bottles & beer cans fished out of the river & the sea… a dramatic concept to convey the dramatic message.
Lost of small groups dancing to the beats of the loud foot-tapping goan music! The best part was the inclusiveness – grannys and children and everyone in between joined in as spectators or participants.
The Carnival and the Shigmo – coming up in March – are Goa’s iconic festivals ….
God bless Goa!
