Silver Braid Ends – that take at least an hour to fix! And help is needed from other women – mother-in-law or sister in law or neighbours to get it all arranged in place

The complexity of putting these on is stated as the reason for this generation giving up this beautiful tradition…

IMG_7811Amber and Turquoise on silver. Sometimes attached to a longer red rope that could be decorated with more stones!

[These two pieces are from the wovensouls collection acquired on my first ‘foreign’ solo trip in 2007 to Lhasa, Shigatse, Gyantse & Everest Base camp – I here everything has changed in Tibet since then :(!!]

 

The most magnificent of all are the ones from Mongolia – and I have not seen any real ones yet.
