Notes on Antique Textiles, Folk Art & Timeless Traditions – Jaina Mishra

The Best Exotic Kuba Cloth Ever!

Another textile deserving of the title “Best”!

I owned one Kuba currency cloth for awhile and have eyed many many pieces since. But none have had as much character as this little beauty!

They say  that it is in the character of Kuba cloth patterns to interrupt the expected line!

This pattern-disruption is also followed in music wherein expected silences are broken with sound and rhythmic patterns are disrupted by staggering and suspending sounds.

What an interesting algorithm to go about creating art!

I wonder how much currency this represented!

There may be others that are better ….if you know of any, do share them – it will be a pleasure to see them!
