Purpose of Life

“For the mystery of human existence lies not in just staying alive, but in finding something to live for. Without a concrete idea of what he is living for, man would refuse to live, would rather exterminate himself than remain on earth, even though everywhere around him was bread.” – Fyodor Dostoyevsky in The Grand Inquisitor .

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi found his purpose at the age of 40+

Another lady I met yesterday on her 85th birthday, told me that she found purpose at the age of 55.

It is never too late to embark upon the journey that will become life’s magnum opus. Even though until then, we may have lived very productive lives, as long as there is a yearning to do something more – something that anchors, I conclude that there is a greater purpose waiting to be discovered.

As Steve Jobs noted, over the years, skills will have been acquired and experiences will have been gathered that will all be required ingredients in creating the final masterpiece. And clues will have been found along the path that did not seem significant enough at the time.

But one day THE moment will come – and the purpose will reveal itself.

And the magnum opus will be created!
