A Temple of Miracles in the Desert – Tanot Mata Mandir

Locals believe that it was the Goddess Tanot Mata that prevented the bombs from exploding in a war a few decades ago.

And the Goddess became famous beyond the local region.

The temple showcase photos of the various dignitaries and politicians and staff that have visited the temple. The prominent photo wall made me wonder whether the temple managers felt honored by the visit of these mere mortals rather than vice versa.

At 120 km away from Jaisalmer, it is a 2 hour  drive away on an excellent road through the Thar desert.  One bus a day to and one bus from Tanot to Jaisalmer every day, with space not only inside the bus, as it is all over the world, but space provided also on top of the bus for skilled travelers.

Locals arrive seeking miracles and tie a handkerchief or chunari to the grills to signify their particular prayer.
