1607 Old Thar Rajasthan Wedding Odhana Shawl – Embroidery Bandhini & Mirrorwork

RARE Old Cotton Wedding Odhana Shawl from the Thar desert region of Rajasthan

Handspun cotton, handwoven, hand dyed and hand embroidered with mirrors.

A lovely central medallion and corner embroidery.

Woven in two panels that are then attached together longitudinally using spectacular stitches in yellow thread. These stitches are also seen in marash embroidery and may be evidence of an ethnographic migration.

Age unknown but estimated to be 50-60 years old

Some uneven fading, thread loss in the embroidery, missing mirrors and edge wear.
