1533 Rare Vintage Woven Pua Figurative Sungkit Sirat from Borneo

An exceptional cloth called Sungkit Sirat with human motifs

The weaving resembles the Pua Pilih weavings I have seen but the dealer who is from this region called it Sungkit Sirat.

Handwoven in yellow, black and two shades of red. 

Unusual weaving. Unusual motifs.

Estimated to be from the 1970s

30 x 116cm

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
