152 Pair of Old Chaaklas with Golden Mirrors

Very rare Golden Mirrors.

In all the 20 years of collecting this is the only Golden mirrorwork I have come across.

LITERATURE REFERENCE : Examples of (non-gold mirror) Chaakdas or chaaklas are seen on pages 69, 72 & 73 in the coffee table book ‘Indian Textiles’ by John Gillow & Nicholas Bernard

MEASUREMENT : 34cm x 33cm

CONDITION : Good condition but a few mirrors may be cracked / missing

Age unknown but estimated to be 70-80 years old

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
