1496 Antique Hand Crafted South Indian Temple Box

A superb bone south Indian box with a double lids and a handle

Note the depiction of possibly Goddess Laxmi on the cover.

Note the amazing attention paid to the details e.g. the claw feet and the superbly crafted curved edges.

12 inches x  9inches

Rare.

Estimated to be from the late 1800s

May have been used to carry temple flowers(?)

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
