Another striking semi-antique African Arkilla Jenngo wedding textile hanging from Mali. Tent Hannging created for a noble Tuareg family.
Both ends are complete
Arkilla jenngo were woven in the area west of Tomboutou near Lake Faguibine by Songhay-speaking weavers, primarily working for Tuareg patrons. They were used as highly prestigious tent hangings for high status weddings.
The narrow bands at both ends suggest that it is a complete piece.
The white is cotton, the tinted parts are wool and vegetable dyes.
Has some signs of wear.

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user. Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
