1164 Antique Tibetan Coat with superfine weave

Superfine Pangden style weaving used in this rare man’s overcoat or Goncha

Hand woven

The pattern of  6 lines – some thick and some thin spans only 1.5 cm!!!

Partly handstitched

Numerous holes and numerous repairs. Several patches old and new have been added on the underside and some on the outside to cover up the holes.

Tibet

Estimated to be from the mid 1900s

WOVENSOULS has sourced 3 other superb Himalayan coats from the bottom of the supply chain that have been acquired by other collectors. This is the 4th and the  last of the lot.

Signs of this life lived heartily may be present on the piece in the form of stains, thread loss, loose threads, holes, tears, color run and other imperfections.
