My pattern of buying is probably less structured than that followed by most collectors.
I put the cart before the horse … and the eyes decide for me. Once the art is home my mind begins the process of understanding and a little research follows.
So here I am with a rug from the nomadic Turkmen people.
The lovely ikat pattern along with the colors attracted me.
Is this common? Maybe it is … I don’t know much about the Turkmen or Ersari group of weavings
I asked Perplexity.Ai and with several references it told me that human figures in Ersari rugs are not common.
What has been your experience?
