Vintage Photos of Spinning Wheels

It is fascinating to see how these basic devices were deeply embedded into daily lives of women and today most wouldn’t have clue about their use.

A few photos from Ebay and other auction sites – presented here just for educational purposes.

Just as every palm now has a phone as an attachment, these spinning wheels were still seen in the hands of women in remote villages in communities where animal herding was an important life facet.

In recent times, I haven’t visited but it will be interesting to see how life and lifecycles have changed.
