There’s Gold Plated Hotels and then there’s Antique Gold….

WoW!

Promotional messages in my mailbox rarely get opened. But when a Gold Plated Hotel came up I was curious.

I could imagine only a few places on earth where the wealth and preferences both align with such an idea.

But the actual location turned out to be  Vietnam – a bit of a surprise!!

Since it is in my backyard, I must plan a trip one day, just to see how it feels to brush my teeth at a sink made of gold.

The idea has gripped my mind – and I can’t deny that tinge of discomfort at the opulence of it all!

But – well – who am I to judge. To each his own.

So I’ll just crawl back into my cave and look at the gold pieces that will soothe my nerves.

And gaze at the gold pieces that are tiny and yet majestic and grand.

Such as these Majapahit Bird Rings that cannot even fit an newborn child’s finger:

Or this  pair of tiny Nagavadura earrings that are hard to hold up for photos.

Their weight in grams is in single digits …. but their  beauty quotient soars higher than the kilos of opulence!
