Birds of Indonesia

So someone said ‘why only talk talk about art always’ ….

So let’s change the track a bit for today and talk about birds!

I spent an hour this afternoon  exploring the area of ornithology – which until yesterday was just a word to me.

Here are the stepping stones that took me down this road:

So many different types of birds!

Who would have imagined that there’s more to life than textile art!

🙂

Now it is the job of my ‘birder’ husband to identify the birds we are so excited about!

How wonderful the world of Ornithology is eh?

🙂

And if this is not enough we can also check out the butterflies of Indonesia!

Or the plants:

And with so much to write about, it is natural that the artist had to use both sides of the cloth to present all these beauties … and so her masterpiece came to be a double-sided batik!

And after pouring her soul into the lesson on the beauty of Indonesia it was natural that she sign her name in!

What a magnificent way to learn about nature!

Am too happy to have found this to be too serious in this note :).

But factually – this is a Batik Tulis Tiga Negeri from the 1930s or so.

See previous note on the subject for more details.
