Shared Festivals across the Border

Is it any surprise that India and China have festivals that are somilar in manisfestation?
Compare the Lantern festival to Diwali.

Lanterns for Diwali or the Mid-Autumn Festival?
Compare the Hungry Ghost Festival to Shraadh.

Though there is a time lag of one lunar month the concepts are too similar to ignore that there is a shared root or shared thought between the two.

I do not know enough cultural history to comment further.

But this striking observation needs to be explored further.
