A beautiful bag with beautiful colors found in an unexpected little shop!
Getting a thorough Solar-cleansing in Goa’s hot sunshine!
The back that tells the experts where this was woven. [am hoping an expert will be kind enough to enlighten me ….flatweaves have been my blindspot!]
Was this made in this format? Is it a fragment that was made into a bag?The questions linger.
But the answers are not necessary to just behold the colors and feel good!

Hi Jaina, I think this would be either Uzbek or perhaps Luri. I have seen on rugrabbit (https://rugrabbit.com/node/134431) a Luri kilim that I thought looked Uzbeki. I have a squarish bag from the Uzbeks with similar patterns. I’m no expert in the types/styles of bags made by Uzbeks (or Luris for that matter) so wouldn’t know if it’s been modified from something bigger.

Thank you Steve. From a Facebook forum I heard that this is a Tartari Afghan bag that some attribute to Uzbeks. From the layout it looks like you are right about it having been converted from something larger. Thank you Steve!
