Notes on Culture & Antique Art, Ethnic Decor & Vintage Fashion | Wovensouls Art Gallery
I acquired this rug from a museum store and do not yet know much about the origin & tribe.
The only information is that it is from the first half of the 20th century, is roughly 5 feet by 10 feet and uses the supplementary weft. It was either deaccessioned by the museum or was being sold on consignment. It is made of 5 bands sewn together and has fringes at both ends.
Any information / clues would be welcome.
UPDATE: On a specialist forum, I posed this question and was informed that this is a tent divider from the central Anatolyan region of Sivas.
