Rare Composite Pashmina Prayer Mat from Kashmir

The style of the field that has diagonal scrolling bent-tip boteh, with leaves and vines is seen in weavings from the Mughal period until the 1750s.

The buta style of the red border is associated with the  period 1740s-1770s

Composite most likely created in the mid 1900s. Collected from the field between the 1950s-1980s by a world renowned collector and auctioned off by Christie’s eventually.

Has stains and minor holes and has a backing.

This item has spent a lifetime being used for the purpose of its creation with the original artist/user.
